The
Pasadena Solar Initiative (PSI) is PWP’s commitment to
a sustainable energy future through the promotion of renewable
solar power to its electric customers.
Through rebates, additional incentives and education, the
Pasadena Solar Initiative aims to help its customers install 14
MW of solar power by 2016. The Initiative will advance the City
of Pasadena's renewables goals outlined in its Green City Action
Plan, as well as California's goal of installing 3000 MW of
solar statewide by 2016.

For the EPBB incentive, PV system wattage is based on system
performance, i.e., CEC-AC Watts
(not capacity), which is influenced by factors such as shading,
orientation, system size, location and angle, .
NOTE TO APPLICANTS WHO HAVE SUBMITTED
APPLICATIONS PRIOR TO JULY 1, 2010:
Applications
received on or before 6/30/2010 will be eligible for the
previously published higher rebate rates, provided that the application is 100% complete and
correct. Any
application which requires correction or additional
documentation will forfeit eligibility for the higher
rates, and the rebate amount will be calculated using
the rates published July 1, 2010 (above).
PERMIT FEE REIMBURSEMENT
PWP currently
reimburses City of Pasadena permit fees (paid to the Planning Division)
for residential solar PV installations only. You must complete
the full PSI rebate application process to receive
reimbursement for permit fees.
OTHER INCENTIVES
The Federal Government offers a tax credit
of up to 30% of system cost, now through 2016, for residential and
business solar installations. Go to
www.irs.gov to get full details, or find helpful summaries on
the
Energy Star website (residential) or at the
DSIRE website (commercial).
LA County
will begin offering a "credit blind" solar financing program for
homeowners at the end of summer 2010. Repayment of the loan is
processed as a line item on the quarterly property tax bill.
Pasadena homeowners are eligible for the program.
